Star

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gestirn is the colloquial collective term for larger celestial bodies visible to the naked eye , such as B. Sun , moon , bright planets and stars . The latter include those celestial bodies that appear freely-eyed as points, and in early astronomy were divided into fixed stars and moving stars (planets), the latter together with the sun and moon as moving stars .

Occasionally bright comets (“tail stars”) and conspicuous star clusters are also referred to as stars - e.g. B. groups of stars such as the "seven stars" ( Pleiades ) and the "rain stars " ( Hyades ), both in the constellation Taurus .

The fixed star (or the fixed stars) near the center of mass of the system ( barycenter ) is called the central star of a planetary system . So the sun is the central star of the solar system .
