Medical fitness

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Medical Fitness (Engl. Medical fitness ) is also called "Medical Fitness Training", "Medical training", "Prevention Training", "health training", "health-oriented training" or "health-oriented fitness training", using as an umbrella term " health sports can be seen."

In health sport, the primary motivation is health-related, i.e. for prevention, stabilization and recovery. The training is systematic, the performance is secondary.

Medical fitness is defined as a preventive, active exercise program with medical-therapeutic support. A prerequisite for medical fitness training is an initial anamnesis , which is carried out by a doctor , a physiotherapist, a medical fitness trainer or a bachelor's degree with proof of training in sports rehabilitation and medical basics. From this, goals are defined together with the customer, which are to be achieved through the training. The physiotherapist , sports therapist or medical fitness trainer creates an individual training plan based on the initial medical history , which takes into account the patient's physical weaknesses and pain points. Check-ups are carried out at predetermined intervals in order to document the progress of the training and to be able to adapt the training plan.

Medical fitness includes strength training , endurance training as well as sensorimotor and functional training with your own body weight, with small devices and stationary training equipment as well as preventive medicine-oriented course concepts.

In summary, medical fitness can be described as both primary preventive (prevention) and tertiary preventive training (rehabilitation) with the aim of maintaining or improving the state of health through training, nutrition and mental relaxation.

The German Trainer Academy, an independent educational company based in Cologne, started a training and further education program specially tailored to medical fitness, which today also integrates the areas of nutrition, motivation and mental fitness in addition to medically-oriented fitness training. The German Trainer Academy defines medical fitness as the interface between medicine, nutrition and physical and mental fitness. In this context, the affiliated publisher published several books. In 2010 the German Society for Medical Fitness eV was also founded, which aims to make medical fitness training for body, mind and soul accessible to a broader public.
