Nash Twin Ignition Eight

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Nash Twin Ignition Eight was the first eight-cylinder passenger car produced by the Nash Motors Company in Kenosha . It was only produced in model year 1930.

The Twin Ignition Eight, model 490 , had chassis with a 3,150 mm or 3,378 mm wheelbase. The overhead eight-cylinder in-line engine with double ignition had a displacement of 4,893 cm³ (bore × stroke (mm) = 82.6 × 114.3) and developed 100 bhp (74 kW) at 3,200 rpm. The engine power was transmitted to the rear wheels via a single-disc dry clutch and a three-speed gearbox (with center shift). All four wheels were braked mechanically.

There were various open and closed structures with 2 to 7 seats.

In 1931 the Model 890 replaced the Twin Ignition Eight.
