Nash 660

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Nash 660 (pronounced Six-Sixty ) was a series of six-cylinder passenger cars from the Nash Motors Company in Kenosha . Together with its more powerful eight-cylinder sister model 870, it replaced the Single Six and was only manufactured in model year 1931. In the following year, the series was renamed the Nash 960 (read: Nine-Sixty ).

The 660 took over the chassis with a 2,902 mm wheelbase from its predecessor. Its side-controlled six-cylinder in-line engine with a displacement of 3,299 cm³ (bore × stroke = 79.4 mm × 111.1 mm) also came from the previous year. However, it now achieved 65 bhp (48 kW) at 3,200 rpm. The drive and brake components (single-disc dry clutch, 3-speed gearbox with center shift, rear-wheel drive, mechanical brakes on all four wheels) also came from the previous year's model. There was a 2-door and a 4-door sedan, two different 2-door coupés and a 4-door sports Phaeton.

The 1932 model was introduced on June 1, 1931, showed no major changes and was christened 960 . As with the larger models 990 , 980 and 970 , the radiator grille was given a slight V-shape and the main headlights a more elongated (rocket) shape. Instead of the two front bumper parts lying on top of each other, there was a one-piece bumper.

As early as March 1, 1932, the Big Six model 1060 replaced this model series.
