Hudson Eight

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hudson Eight refers to a series of eight-cylinder automobiles that the Hudson Motor Car Co. in Detroit only manufactured in the 1940 model year. This year it was the simplest version with eight cylinders and was also called the Model 44 .

Like the more luxuriously equipped variant, the DeLuxe Eight , the Eight had a chassis (2,997 mm) and the appearance of the Hudson Super Six : It had a radiator grille with horizontal bars that took up the entire width of the vehicle, and main headlights integrated into the fenders.

The side-controlled eight-cylinder in-line engine with a displacement of 4,169 cm³ (bore × stroke = 76.2 mm × 114.3 mm) developed 128 bhp (94 kW) at 4,200 rpm. A 3-seat coupé, a 4-seat Victoria coupé, a 5-seat coupé-convertible and a 6-seat sedan convertible were offered as bodies, each with 2 doors.

In 1941 the eight was dropped again and was replaced by the Commodore Eight .
