Nash 890

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Nash 890 (pronounced: Eight-Ninety ) was a series of eight-cylinder passenger cars from the Nash Motors Company in Kenosha . It replaced the Twin Ignition Eight and was only manufactured in the 1931 model year. In the following year, the series was renamed the Nash 990 (read: Nine-Ninety ).

Like its predecessor, the 890 had chassis with a 3,150 mm or 3,378 mm wheelbase. The overhead eight-cylinder in-line engine with a displacement of 4,893 cm³ (bore × stroke = 82.6 mm × 114.3 mm) was also adopted. However, it made 115 bhp (85 kW) at 3,600 rpm. The drive and brake components (single-disc dry clutch, 3-speed gearbox with center shift, rear-wheel drive, mechanical brakes on all four wheels) also came from the previous year's model. There were various open and closed structures with 2 to 7 seats.

The 1932 model was introduced on June 1, 1931, had few changes to its predecessor and was called the 990 . The radiator grille got a slight V-shape and the main headlights a more elongated (rocket) shape. Instead of the two front bumper parts lying on top of each other, there was a one-piece bumper.

As early as March 1, 1932, the Advanced Eight and the Ambassador Eight Model 1090 replaced this model series.
