The Ghar-e-Roodafshan ( Persian غار رودفشان Ghār-e Rudafschān , DMG Ġār-e Rūdafšān ) is a cave in the province of Tehran in Iran . It is located in the Rudafschān Valley east of Tehran and has been the destination of research trips by the Association for Speleology in Upper Styriasince 2003. Together with the association Chāneye Kuhnawardān-e Tehrān /خانهء کوهنوردان تهرانthe cave was surveyed (2003-2005).

The total length of this spacious cave is 1,502 m with a level difference of −90.6 m. The maximum horizontal extension is 470 m. The NS extension is 467 m. The OW extension is 185 m. The Roodafshan Entrance Hall is 168 m long, 94 m wide, up to 40 m high and has a floor area of 11,395 m² and is currently the second largest documented cave room in Iran .

Despite the spaciousness of the corridors, a slight weather pattern was repeatedly determined, which suggests a larger cave system behind the incasion zone.

The entire cave area is relatively dry, there are no active channels. There are only isolated drips and active sintering. Characteristic for the cave is the partially large cauliflower or button sinter coating of the cave walls and the stalagmites .
