Ghost (album)

Ghost is a studio album by Canadian rock musician Devin Townsend from 2011. It is part of his album cycle under the name Devin Townsend Project and was released at the same time as the album Deconstruction . In contrast to the other works by Townsend, which can mostly be assigned to the genre Progressive Metal , Ghost is more calm, experimental and influenced by the genre Ambient . So it is the counterpart to Deconstruction , which is dominated by Extreme Metal . The longest song, Feather , was released in advance for promotional purposes. The album received mostly positive reviews.

Except for Monsoon and Infinite Ocean , all of the songs were written by Devin Townsend. Townsend himself recorded some of the ambient sounds in the great outdoors.

A full live recording of both Ghost and Deconstruction was released in the 2012 boxset By a Thread .

Townsend had also written other songs for the album, including the already downloadable tracks Drench , Fall and Watch You . Due to their darker mood, these did not find a place on the album. Townsend plans, however, to release the remaining songs at a later date under the title Ghost II .
