Gibbs Humdinga

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Gibbs Humdinga is an amphibious vehicle based on the Hummer H1 . It was developed for use in rough terrain by the native New Zealander Alan Gibbs. Gibbs Technologies , the company producing the vehicle, is based in Warwickshire near Coventry, England .

The Humdinga can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 9.2 seconds. It has an empty weight of 2000 kg and air suspension that is independent of the wheel. The vehicle is 5400 mm long, 1850 mm high and 2000 mm wide.

On land the Humdinga reaches 160 km / h with 260 kW / 350 PS. On the water, thanks to the jet pump ( water jet propulsion ) and its sub-floor architecture, it can reach 65 km / h. As with the Gibbs Aquada, the wheels fold in at the push of a button and the automobile transforms into a boat in 12 seconds. This mechanism is locked during operation in "land mode" and is only released when the vehicle is in "water mode". This guarantees that the wheels do not fold inwards while driving in the country.

The Gibbs Humdinga is available in a civil and a military version.
