Giddings Deutsches Volksblatt

Giddings Deutsches Volksblatt was a trilingual German-American newspaper that was published in Giddings , Texas. The greater part was written in German, but many stories were also written in English. In the first years the newspaper was also written in Sorbian (Wendish), later this was limited to a few short additions. The Deutsche Volksblatt was developed to reach the German community in Texas and especially the Sorbs scattered in Texas . (The Serbin, founded by Sorbian emigrants, is located around 10 kilometers southwest of Giddings.)

Johann A. Proske (1857–1943) and WC Vogel founded the newspaper in 1899. A test edition was published on September 12 of that year, while the first complete edition was published on October 1 of that year. The later owners stopped the newspaper in 1949.
