Gilad Hochman

Gilad Hochman (born July 26, 1982 in Herzliya ) is an Israeli composer who has been working in Berlin since 2007 .

Gilad Hochman studied with the composer Gil Shohat at the Buchman-Mehta School of Music at Tel Aviv University . At the age of 22 he was composer in residence with the “Ra'anana Symphonette”. The city of Ra'anana honored him in 2007. He founded and directed the “Arco String Ensemble” and the “New Sounds concert series” of the “Israel Composers' League”. In 2007, at the age of 24, he was the youngest to receive the Israeli “Prime Minister's Award” for composition.

In his compositions, Hochman combines classical music education with Jewish music tradition and the experiences of Israeli music.

Hochman was invited to the 2009 International Chorbiennale in Aachen . In November 2009 his compositions were performed at the Mainz University of Music . Soloists of the Bochum Symphony Orchestra performed the chamber music work in Bochum in April 2011.
