Gillock Island is an icy, 29 km long and 3 to 9 km wide island with numerous rocky outcrops off the Ingrid Christensen coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land . It lies north-south in the eastern section of the Amery Ice Shelf .
The American geographer John Hobbie Roscoe (1919–2007) mapped it using aerial photographs taken by the United States Navy as part of Operation Highjump (1946–1947). Roscoe named the island after Lieutenant Robert Hugh Gillock (1919-1995), navigator on the reconnaissance flights during this operation between 14th and 164th degrees east.
