Gioacchino Attaguile (born October 26, 1915 in Grammichele , Province of Catania ; † October 25, 1994 in Catania , Province of Catania) was an Italian politician of the Democrazia Cristiana (DC), who between 1963 and 1976 was a member of the Senate ( Senato della Repubblica ) as well was temporarily minister.

Life

Attaguile completed a law degree and after graduating worked as a lawyer and notary . He began his political engagement as a member of the parliament of the province of Catania and was on April 28, 1963 as a representative of the Democrazia Cristiana (DC) member of the Senate ( Senato della Repubblica ) , of which he was a member until July 4, 1976. During the fourth legislative period between July 1963 and January 1964 he was initially a member of the Senate Committee for Industry, Internal and Foreign Trade and Tourism and then from January 1964 to June 1968 a member of the Senate Committee for Agriculture and Forests. During the fifth legislative period, from July 1968 to May 1970, he continued to be a member of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forests and, for a short time, in July 1968, of the Judiciary and Rules of Procedure Committee of the Senate. At the same time he acted from July 1968 to April 1970 as secretary of the Presidium of the Senate.

On April 2, 1970, Attaguile took over his first government office and acted in the third Rumor cabinet and in the Colombo cabinet from April 2, 1970 to February 16, 1972 as Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Finance (Sottosegretario di Stato per le finanze) . He was also a member of the Senate Committee on Finance and Treasure between May 1970 and May 1972. After the death of Salvatore Mannironi , Prime Minister Emilio Colombo also appointed him Minister for the Merchant Navy (Ministro della marina mercantile) on April 10, 1971 , and held this office until the end of Colombo's term of office on February 16, 1972. Most recently, he belonged in the sixth legislative period from July 1972 to July 1976 back to the Judicial Committee of the Senate.

Attaguile, who also acted as chairman of the Tumor Center in Catania (Centro tumori di Catania) in the 1970s , was the father of the politician Angelo Attaguile , who since the elections on February 25, 2013, the Movimento per le Autonomie (MpA) and has represented the Lega Nord as a member of the Chamber of Deputies ( Camera dei deputati ) since 2015 .
