The Giolitti company operates several shops in Rome selling ice cream ( gelato ) and confectionery . The best known is the branch in Via Uffici del Vicario 40, which has existed since 1900, near the Pantheon and the Italian Parliament . This branch is considered one of the most famous ice cream parlors in the world.

In 1890 Giuseppe and Bernardina Giolitti founded a milk shop ( Latteria Giolitti ) in the Salita del Grillo in Rome, in which milk from their own production was sold. Within a few years, more shops were opened in Rome. Nazzareno, the son of Giuseppe and Bernardina Giolitti, also started selling ice cream in the shop on Via Uffici del Vicario. But it was only Nazzareno's son Silvano who focused on the production and sale of ice cream, developing his own recipes that are still in use today. In 1960 another branch was opened in the Roman quarter EUR . The company is also a franchisor for some branches abroad. The company is still owned by the family today.
