Giovanni Battista Andreoni
Giovanni Battista Andreoni (* 1720 in Lucca , † 23. April 1797 ) was an Italian opera singer ( Alt - castrato ), which also Handel Georg Friedrich worked.
Life
Andreoni entered the Cappella Palatina of the Prince of Lucca as the first soprano in March 1736. He was then committed to the Venice Opera in 1738/39 before moving to London. There he took part in the premieres of the Handel operas Imeneo and Deidamia . He then worked in Florence and Spain.
In Spain he is said to have met the castrato Farinelli , who showed himself to be very favored. It is alleged that he should have been dissatisfied with his profession, and therefore should have withdrawn from it to an order in Rome.
On March 22, 1785, the Cappella Palatina Lucca granted him a pension of five scudi per month.
He is said to have been extremely stout in the end.
