Giovanni Battista Dell'Acqua

Giovanni Battista Dell'Acqua (born August 13, 1788 in Milan , † September 9, 1868 in Milan ) was an Italian painter .

Life

Giovanni Battista Dell'Acqua belonged to the circle of painters trained by Giovanni Migliara on the Brera , including Pompeo Calvi and Federico Moja . Giovanni Migliara celebrated contemporaries as “Flemish Italians”, “almost rivals of nature”, “Lord of light” or “new Prometheus, who kidnaps the sparks of the shining star to darken the light in his works”, while especially the moonlight images von Dell'Acqua caused a sensation: “Exact perspective, fitting light effect; only a little more security in the execution of the small figures would be desirable. But Migliara also spoiled us. ”Between 1818 and 1855 Dell'Acqua exhibited regularly at the Brera Art Academy.
