Giovanni Santinello

Giovanni Santinello (born February 1, 1922 in Padua ; † August 23, 2003 ibid) was an Italian philosopher and university professor specializing in the history of philosophy .

biography

Santinello completed his studies in philosophy at the University of Padua in July 1945 , was there since 1949 assistant and lecturer and then received a call to the professorship for the history of philosophy at the University of Lecce (1959-1963). From 1963 he returned to the University of Padua in the same position, initially as an associate professor and from 1970 as a full professor . Santinello's main field of work was Cusanus research; In addition, he has dealt with the method of the historiography of philosophy, from which the multi-volume project of a “history of the historiography of philosophy” ( Storia della storie generali della filosofia ) has grown.

In 1993 a commemorative publication was published in Santinello's honor with the title Concordia discors , which also contains a list of Santinello's numerous over 250 publications for the years 1949–1993.
