Girl is the third studio album by Australian singer Dannii Minogue . The album was first released on September 8, 1997 and contains four singles: "All I Wanna Do", "Everything I Wanted", "Disremembrance" and "Coconut". The latter was only released in Australia.

Background information

In 1995, Dannii Minogue broke up with her music label Mushroom Records after an argument. An album that was in production was never released until 1997 when Minogue signed with Eternal Records. She began recording her third album, Girl . Her first two albums Love and Kisses and Get into You were very much influenced by pop music, but Minogue was also interested in dance and club music .

Music composition

The album's genre was distinctively different from Minogue's previous work. This was clearly shown with the first song "All I Wanna Do", which contained an emphatic dance style as opposed to the pop style. Girl's other songs range from mature pop ("Heaven Can Wait", "Am I Dreaming?", "Everything I Wanted", "It's Amazing") to a more dance-oriented style ("Disremembrance", "Movin ' Up "). The album also contained notable trance elements ("So in Love with Yourself", "If It Moves - Dub It", "Coconut") and infused ambient sounds ("Everybody Changes Underwater"). Some songs also contain strong echoes of electro music.
