Girolamo Besozzi

Girolamo Besozzi ( Jerome Besozzi , * 1745 or 1750 in Naples , † 1788 in Paris ) was an Italian oboist , bassoonist and composer .

The son of the composer Gaetano Besozzi had a job from 1765 in the court orchestra of the King of Naples. Around 1770 he traveled to Paris, where he performed his own works at the Concert spirituel . He became known as a composer of chamber music. His sonata for bassoon and piano in B flat major is an integral part of the literature for this instrument up to the present day. His son Henri Besozzi was a flautist at the Paris Opera , his grandson was the composer Louis Désiré Besozzi .
