Gisela student

Gisela Schüler (* August 7, 1928 ; † July 28, 2013 ) was a German social worker with special experience in caring for people with epilepsy .

Life

The pupil initially completed training in folk crafts and housekeeping, then (until 1955) as a welfare worker. Then she was initially employed at the Spandau social welfare office in Berlin. In 1959 she switched to hospital care at what was then the Westend Municipal Clinic, which later became the University Clinic and where Dieter Janz set up a chair in neurology in 1973 . From 1975 until her retirement in 1992 she headed the entire social service, later also the women's and children's clinic in Berlin-Charlottenburg and at the Rudolf Virchow Hospital .

Work and writings

Schüler was the (co-) initiator and organizer of specialist conferences on social work in epilepsy, with the establishment of a corresponding working group (now “Verein Sozialarbeit bei Epilepsie eV”). She was (co-) author of numerous articles and (co-) author or (co-) editor of 11 books:
