Gitanjali is a collection of poems by the Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore . Tagore received the Nobel Prize in Literature for this book in particular . Gitanjali is also part of the UNESCO collection of representative works .

history

The original Bengali collection of more than a hundred poems was first published on August 14, 1910. In November 1912, the India Society of London published Tagore's poems in its own English translation. In 1913, Tagore became the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature, particularly for the English translation of Gitanjali.
