Helmut Hüther

Helmut Hüther (born June 5, 1926 in Frankenthal ; † April 27, 1991 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

Attending the primary school in Frankenthal from 1933 to 1941 was followed by a visit to the Frankenthal vocational school from 1941 to 1944 and an apprenticeship as a locksmith, which ended in 1944 with the skilled worker examination.

From 1944 to 1948 he worked as a tool fitter. Subsequently, until 1957, he was an apprentice trainer in a training workshop in Frankenthal. In 1957 he became an employee of IG Metall as managing director and first authorized representative of IG Metall in Frankenthal. Since 1965 he has worked as a member of the IG Metall advisory board and since 1964 as a member of the REFA Frankenthal district board .

Political party

Hüther had been a member of the SPD since 1946. From 1946 to 1952 he was chairman of the Falken in Frankenthal. From 1955 to 1971 he was deputy chairman and then until 1977 chairman of the Frankenthal local SPD association.

MP

Hüther was elected to the Rhineland-Palatinate Landtag for the first time in the 1971 state elections and was a member of it for four terms from May 18, 1971 to June 2, 1987. In the 7th and 8th electoral terms he was a member of the Social Policy Committee and the Committee on Social Affairs, Health and Sport. In the 9th and 10th electoral terms he worked in the Committee on the Environment and the Committee on Petitions . In the 10th electoral term also in the Legal Affairs Committee.

In 1984 he was a member of the 8th Federal Assembly .

From 1952 to 1991 he was a member of the Frankenthal City Council. At times he was parliamentary group leader of the SPD. From 1969 to 1971 he was a member of the Palatinate District Assembly .

Other memberships

Hüther was alternating chairman of the representative assembly of the AOK Vorderpfalz and member of the supervisory board of Klein, Schanzlin & Becker AG (Frankenthal).

Since 1945 he was a member of IG Metall. Member of the IG Metall Advisory Board since 1965 and first authorized representative in IG Metall for the Frankenthal, Grünstadt, Eisenberg, Kirchheimbolanden area since 1957. Since 1963 he was chairman of the free religious community Frankenthal and since 1985 of the state community.
