Giuseppe Rocca (screenwriter)

Giuseppe Rocca (born May 5, 1947 in Frattamaggiore ) is an Italian screenwriter and theater and film director.

Life

Rocca graduated in modern literary studies with a focus on art history and studied directing at the " Accademia Nazionale d'Arte Drammatica Silvio D'Amico ". He worked as a lecturer for history and technique of directing at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples and for screenwriting at the "Nuova Università del Cinema e della Televisione", he wrote several manuscripts, scripts and scenarios, of which u. a. Il mondo alla rovescia (1994) was made into a film (and some were awarded). After numerous productions for the stage and extensive work for the radio from 1976 (“Tempore pestis”, “Non aperiatur”, “Aci, il fiume”, “Nel cerchio stregato”, “In corpore antiquo” and as examples for series “Novelle per un anno ”,“ Don Chisciotte ”and“ Gulliver ”) he was the author of the BBC production Orpheus Ascending .

Rocca made his feature film debut as a director in 2000 with Lontano in fondo agli occhi , which was enthusiastically received by the critics. His screenplay for Il resto di niente , written five years later , won several awards.
