Given Lubinda

Given Lubinda (born May 15, 1963 ) is a Zambian politician of the Patriotic Front (PF).

Life

Lubinda completed a degree in agricultural management and graduated with a diploma. He then worked as an agronomist. He was elected for the first time as a member of the National Assembly of Zambia as a candidate for the Patriotic Front (PF) in the 2001 elections and was re-elected in the 2006, 2011 and 2016 elections and represents the constituency of Kabwata .

In September 2011, he was appointed Minister for Information, Broadcasting and Tourism in his cabinet by President Michael Sata . On January 12, 2012, he succeeded Chishimba Kambwili as Foreign Minister. In addition, he also became Minister of Tourism and the Arts in July 2012. On February 26, 2013, he was replaced by Effron Lungu as Foreign Minister, but remained Minister for Tourism and the Arts. After Sata's death on October 28, 2014, he kept this ministerial office in the cabinet of his acting successor Guy Scott and in the cabinet of Edgar Lungu , who took over the office of president on January 25, 2015. In the course of a government reshuffle, he took over the office of Minister for Agriculture and Livestock in February 2015 and the Office of Agriculture Minister in October 2015. As part of a recent cabinet reshuffle, he finally became Minister of Justice in September 2016. Since October 2016 he has been a member of the Committee on Reforms and Modernization and the Committee on Privileges, Absences and Support Services of the National Assembly.
