Sata ran again as a presidential candidate in the 2006 election in Zambia and achieved the second-best result with 29 percent. In the parliamentary elections that took place at the same time, the PF was able to win 46 seats. The PF won its votes in 2006 primarily in the townships of the Copperbelt and Lusaka , but also in the Northern Province and in the Province of Luapula , where it was able to benefit massively from the discontent with the lack of investment and infrastructure expansion.
