Glamor is an international fashion and women's magazine developed by Condé Nast. All international editions appear either in the respective national Condé Nast publishing houses or through licensees. The German edition is published by Condé Nast Germany .

history

The magazine was founded in the United States in 1939 and was originally called Glamor of Hollywood . It is currently published in 17 countries: USA, England, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Russia, Poland, Hungary, Romania, South Africa, Mexico, Greece, the Netherlands, Turkey, Iceland and Sweden. In most countries the magazine appears monthly.

In the USA, the print edition was discontinued in November 2018.

Glamor worldwide

In the United States, the magazine appears in a larger format than in its various counterparts in other countries. The current editor is Cynthia Leive. Since 1980, Glamor has held an annual award ceremony at which the “Women of the year” are chosen.

The Glamor first appeared in the UK in April 2000. Since then, it has been edited by Jo Elvin and Deputy Editor-in-Chief Michelle Pamment.

Glamor in Germany

After it was founded in 2001, the German edition of the magazine was looked after by Bettina Wündrich as editor-in-chief. In 2003 the frequency of publication was changed from monthly to biweekly. Wündrich switched to emotion magazine at the end of 2004 , while Nikolaus Albrecht took over the editor-in-chief of Glamor . In May 2008, Andrea Ketterer was appointed as the new editor-in-chief, as Albrecht moved to the editor-in-chief of Vanity Fair . From January 2009, Glamor appeared monthly again. In January 2020 the frequency of publication was reduced to eleven times a year and in January 2021 it should be reduced to ten times a year. In August 2020 it was announced that the frequency of publication will be reduced to six times a year in January 2021.

Glamor Beauty Book

The Glamor Beauty Book has been published once a year since 2015, with a focus on current beauty trends. With international make-up artist portraits, the magazine provides a look behind the scenes of the cosmetics industry, shows the new make-up trends in photo series and gives make-up tips in the Beauty School section. The magazine was developed by Glamor Editor-in-Chief Andrea Ketterer and Beauty Director Stephanie Neureuter.
