The Glanzstoff high-rise is an administration building in the Elberfeld district of Wuppertal . The building on Kasinostrasse is the second tallest in the city after the Stadtsparkassen tower and dominates the skyline of the Elberfeld center.

description

The construction of the 47 m high building by the architect Hanns Dustmann began in 1954 and was completed in 1958. It was the new administration building with 15 floors of the man-made fiber manufacturer Vereinigte Glanzstoff-Fabriken AG , which was based in Wuppertal. Glossstoff became Enka and then the group of companies was more closely integrated into the parent company AkzoNobel . In 1999 Acordis was separated from the Akzo group. Acordis was bought up and individual locations were closed, the administrative headquarters in Elberfeld were also given up and a new tenant was sought in 2006.

The Japanese chemical company Teijin has now rented parts of the complex and had its lettering attached; the Acordis lettering was removed in October 2007.

monument

The high-rise on Kasinostraße and the surrounding buildings on Herzogstraße and Mäuerchen are registered as five individual entries on July 19, 2001 in the list of monuments of the city of Wuppertal.
