Glasgal Island is a small island off the Budd coast of the East Antarctic Wilkesland . It marks the southwestern extension of the Donovan Islands in the eastern part of Vincennes Bay .
Aerial photographs of the US American Operation Highjump (1946–1947) were used for initial mapping. The American polar explorer Carl R. Eklund (1909–1962) sighted them in 1957 with other members of the occupation of the Wilkes station . Eklund named it after the American aurora researcher Ralph Glasgal, who belonged to this cast.
