The Donovan Islands ( English Donovan Islands ) are a chain of eight small islands off the Budd coast of the East Antarctic Wilkesland . They are located around 8 km northwest of the Clark Peninsula in the eastern part of Vincennes Bay .
Aerial photographs of the US American Operation Highjump (1946–1947) were used for initial mapping. Further aerial photographs were taken in January 1956 as part of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions . The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named the islands on September 4, 1956 after Jeremiah Donovan, an official in the Australian Antarctic Division and head of a number of escort expeditions to Heard Island and Macquarie Island .
