Glashüttenwald

A glassworks Forest (also Aschenwald , glasses shock , etc.) is for glassmaking occupied forest.

For the production of glass, large quantities of wood were needed, in order to extract potash from it and to heat the molten glass with charcoal . The forests used for this purpose were named according to their use and the locations were given corresponding names and are common in areas with a former glass industry .
