Glass heating

A glass heater is an electric heater made of unbreakable laminated glass and an integrated, electrically conductive film that heats up when an electric current flows through it.

Manufacturing

The actual heating element is an electrically conductive plastic film.

The carrier film is provided with a very thin, transparent coating. The material to be applied is cathode atomized by a magnetron (English: sputtering ). A low-temperature plasma is formed in a noble gas atmosphere, in which the atomized target material is transported and deposited on the opposite film. The process takes place under clean room conditions .

The film treated in this way is then fused in the autoclave between glass elements under high pressure and heat to form an inseparable unit.

Appearance

The incorporated film is transparent. This makes the radiator appear crystal clear.

Areas of application

The glass heater is operated with 230 V and offers 240 to 1050 watts of power in different sizes. This heating solution is ideal where there is no connection to a heating water circuit. As an additional device for central heating or underfloor heating, the glass heating heats living rooms, bathrooms and toilets.

Primary areas of application:

  • as a space heater in a wide variety of environments
  • as a towel dryer

use costs

As with any resistance electric heater , when used as a full heating system , consumption costs are around 3 times higher in Germany when using the usual household tariff compared to conventional oil or gas heating.
