Double facade with glass slats

As glass slats in the are architecture blades made of glass called. Fixed glass slats serve as sun protection and design elements for facades . Movable glass slats are used to regulate ventilation or simply because you want to have a clear view. They are used as louvre windows or large lamella facade executed. Glass lamellas are also used as a second skin in a double facade .

Execution types

Glass lamellas can be designed as single glass or as insulating glass. If they are movable, they are called overhead glazing , because when they are open someone can stand under the slats. In this case, they must be made of VSG (laminated glass), consisting of two layers of TVG (partially tempered glass) with a PVB plastic film in between.

If an insulating glass lamella is used on the roof, the outer of the two glasses protrudes at the front edge (protruding pane) and thus overlaps the lamella underneath, as with a tiled roof. This ensures permanent tightness without so-called cold bridges.
