King Arthur and the quest animal

The Glatisant , also called quest animal or barking animal, is a bizarre creature of the mythical world of King Arthur , even wondrous and at the same time terrifying to look at.

Appearance

It has the head of a snake and a body like a leopard , with the rump of a lion and the legs and hooves of a deer . A roaring noise comes from inside, a barking like thirty dogs in a hurry. If the Glatisant quenches its tremendous thirst in a watering place, usually a cool lake or well, this is likely to be the only occasion when the dogs in the animal's body remain still for a moment.

Legend

The quest animal is a strange creature that apparently lives to be hunted, not captured. It often fools its pursuers by hiding itself perfectly, and sometimes by terrifying their horses to death with a shrill scream. Although it has a pronounced talent at evading the gaze of its pursuers, its noise gives it away every time. When Sir Pedrag, who made it his destiny to hunt the barking animal, dies one day, the Glatisant is said to have become sad, possibly even a little depressed, and in his melancholy drank half the lake from Morris. His capture is never reported and no persecutor has ever fought with him.

Others

The quest animal is also a symbol of the desire for adventure , the exact purpose of which is simply that you do not know it and still have to pass it. The heroes and the knight who set out to hunt the quest animal are looking for adventure, which, however, does not lie in the actual encounter with the Glatisant, but in the quest they get into while hunting, often a story full of danger and rich in fame and honor.
