Synchronization process

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Synchronization is a technical term in communications technology . It is also often referred to as the synchronization method. It describes the process with which a synchronization between the sending station and the receiving station is established and maintained in the data transmission , so that all data sent can be correctly recognized by the recipient.

Asynchronous operation

In asynchronous operation, the clock is reset for each byte, i. H. the stations are only synchronous for one byte each.

Synchronous operation

In this case, the clock rate applies to the entire communication session. This process is usually implemented with local clocks that are readjusted at signal edges. So that the stations remain synchronous, regular edges are necessary. These can e.g. B. be ensured by using the Manchester code .
