Sliding block

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The sliding block is used as a transmission element to compensate for height offset. They are used in machines where a transmission of a rotary movement between a fixed drive motor or jackshaft and spring-mounted transmission wheels is to be implemented with larger forces to be transmitted. They became known especially in electric locomotives with drive rods , in which only rotary movements with a height offset had to be transmitted. From the steam locomotive era , sliding blocks in the Kuhn loop for reinforcing the contact surface between a bolt and an eye surface are known.
