Glenlossie is a whiskey distillery near Elgin , Scotland , UK .

history

The distillery was founded in 1876 by John Duff. When one of the two co-owners, Alexander Grigor Allan, died in 1896, he handed the distillery over to Henry MacKay in order to concentrate on the newly founded Longmorn distillery. In 1919 the distillery went to the Distillers Company Ltd. (DCL). After a fire, the distillery was rebuilt in 1929. In 1962 the number of stills was increased from four to six.

production

The water from the Speyside distillery comes from the Bardon Burn , as does the nearby Mannochmore Distillery. It has a mash tun ( mash tun ) (8 t), eight fermentation vats ( wash backs ) (45,000 l each) made of larch wood , three wash stills (together 48,000 l) and three spirit stills (together 43,200 l) that are heated with steam .
