Mannochmore is a Scottish whiskey distillery near Elgin .
history
The distillery was founded in 1971 by John Haig & Co. built. It was shut down between 1985 and 1989. Mannochmore has only been available as a single malt since 1992 . The black hole Dhu was added in 1996 , its production has since been discontinued and - despite its unusual taste - it is becoming a sought-after collector's item. After it was closed again from 1995 to 1997, the distillery only produces in winter. Then it is run by the workers of the nearby Glenlossie Distillery, which produces only in summer .
production
The water for the Speyside distillery comes from the Bardon Burn. The malt used is sourced from Burghead Maltings in Elgin. The distillery has a mash tun ( mash do ) (12 t), eight fermentation tanks ( wash backs ) (per 54,000 l), three wash stills (per 14,400 l) and three spirit stills (per 17,000 l). Steam is used for firing.
