GlobalPost is an online-based news agency , and thus belongs to online journalism . She has set herself the goal of "redefining international news for the digital age."

history

Philip Balboni founded the agency (with $ 8.5 million from private investors) with Charles M. Sennott, the founder and director of The Ground Truth Project, who made a name for himself in 2011 in Cairo through reports on the Arab Spring. Balboni had previously made a name for himself as the founder and longtime director of New England Cable News (NECN). The Global Post launched on 12 January 2009, 65 correspondents worldwide. The journalist Caryle Murphy, former employee of the Washington Post , based in Saudi Arabia , and the journalist and novelist Matt Rees from Time Magazine , based in Jerusalem , were leading founding employee of the agency. The war reporter James Foley , who works for GlobalPost, achieved sad international fame ; he was kidnapped in Syria in 2012 and beheaded in August 2014 by a member of the terrorist organization Islamic State .

The Global Post put their messages for a small fee other media available, including New York Daily News , The World Weekly , Times of India , and Newark Star-Ledger , but financed mainly by Internet advertising . after the attempt to market online subscriptions failed.
