Global Unions Council

Unlike z. For example, in the German trade union movement, in which the individual trade unions are members of the DGB , it is not the GUFs that belong to the ITUC, but the national trade union federations (e.g. the DGB). The GUFs and TUAC are independent organizations, which are, however, connected to the IGB via the “Global Unions Council”. This connection is u. a. regulated in Articles VI and VII of the ITUC Constitution as follows:

“Article VI: Global Union Federations and Global Unions Council
(a) The Confederation recognizes the autonomy and competence of the Global Union Federations for representation and trade union action in their respective industries and with respect to relevant multinational companies, as well as the importance of sectoral action for the whole trade union movement.
(b) In an effort to ensure the greatest possible cohesion and the greatest possible efficiency of the international trade union movement, the federal government works together in the framework of a structural partnership with the global trade union federations and the trade union advisory committee at the OECD (TUAC) in the Global Unions Council (GUR). The global trade union federations, of which the federal government recognizes one for each industry, are represented in its governing bodies with the right to speak.
Article VII: Trade Union Advisory Committee to the OECD (TUAC)
The trade union advisory committee at the OECD (TUAC) is represented in the governing bodies of the federal government with the right to speak. "
