The Global Wind Day (in German-speaking countries as Day of the Wind called) is an action of the wind energy industry , which since 2007 annually on June 15 is celebrated. Originally introduced in Europe by the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA), it is now organized worldwide by both the EWEA and the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC). In addition, national industry and environmental associations and a large number of small actors are involved in the implementation .

The aim of the day of action is public relations . By means of various campaigns such as photo and painting competitions, kite flying , visits to wind farms and, if necessary, climbing wind turbines , etc., attention is drawn to the importance of wind energy use.

In 2011, associations and groups from over 30 countries on four continents took part in the campaign.
