history

The house dates from the turn of the 15th to the 16th century and was built as a cast house at that time. The bell foundry from this period has been preserved, except for the furnaces that have been rebuilt several times. The foundry ceased operations in 1894. In 1916 the Heimatverein Braunau acquired the building and the following year Hugo von Preen set up the town's home in it. The work was personally supervised by the last bell founder, Anton Gugg .

Today there are also: The collections of the Heimatverein “Alt-Braunau”, the home parlor of the Danube Swabians , as well as a bakery (1920), a community parlor (19th century) and an original smoking kitchen .
