Gmarket is a South Korean online mail order company with a wide range of products. Gmarket was founded in 2000 by the trading company Interpark and taken over by the online marketplace provider eBay in 2009 .

history

The predecessor to Gmarket was founded in 1999 by Gu Yeong-bae ( 구영배 ) as part of the Interpark auction and ticket platform . In 2000 it became an independent website called Goodsdaq ( 구스닥 ). In 2003 the website was renamed Gmarket.

In 2006, Gmarket became the first South Korean online shop to be listed on NASDAQ . 2009 took over the American trading firm eBay Gmarket for about 1.2 billion US dollars . As a result, Gmarket was no longer listed in the NASDAQ.

The company sells its own font with Gmarket Sans .
