The Gościnny Dwór (German meaning about: Gastliches Gutshaus or Gastlicher Hof ) was a well-known trading building in today's Warsaw district of Mirów in the Wola district . It was built in 1841 and destroyed during the Second World War.

history

The building was built in 1841 according to a project by Jan Jakub Gay and Alfons Ferdynand Kropiwnicki . It was on Plac Za Żelazną Bramą opposite the Lubomirski Palace . Side streets were the Ulica Skórzana and Ulica Gnojna, which no longer exist.

The trading hall was supposed to lead to an order of the trading taking place on the square up to then. The building was designed in the shape of an isosceles triangle with rounded corners. The inside area was bricked, outside there were arcades resting on cast steel columns and arches . The name "Gościnny Dwór" (in both Polish and Russian: Гостиный двор ) was placed above the raised main entrance . Inside, the providers were sorted according to product groups. After the construction of a tram that passed here at the end of the 19th century, there were also good transport links for the commercial center. During the conquest of Warsaw in 1939, the building was bombed and burned down.
