Go-oo ( Go O pen O ffice) was on the platform-independent OpenOffice.org based office software package from Novell .
However, it can not be determined whether Go-oo was a real split . The objectives were, better support from Microsoft provide formats whose Excel - VBA - macros to support and better interoperability . In addition, East Asian languages were better supported.
Go-oo has not been further developed since September 2010 because the developers have joined the Document Foundation and their LibreOffice project .
The OxygenOffice program package was also created based on Go-oo .
Differences between OpenOffice.org and Go-oo
- Go-oo works faster than OpenOffice.org in some areas and is therefore particularly recommended on older systems with little memory.
- From the third version, Go-oo can protect XLS files with a password.
- Go-oo Draw can open SVG files without an extension.
- In contrast to OpenOffice.org, Go-oo is preset to the large variants of the icons.
- At Go-oo there is only an English version for download, but other languages can be retrofitted with language packages from the OpenOffice.org package.
- In contrast to OpenOffice.org, you will not be asked for an optional registration after installation.
- From version 3 a PDF import function is included.
- The Go-oo version for Windows is the same as the OpenOffice.org Novell edition for Windows. As an example: The Go-oo version 3.0-19 and the Novell Edition 3.0-22 are practically identical.
