Gobi Ranganathan (born April 22, 1976 ) is an English badminton player . He has spina bifida and starts in Parabadminton in the WH2 wheelchair class in singles, doubles and mixed.

Athletic career

Gobi Ranganathan was initially active as a swimmer and took part in competitions at regional and national level. He later turned to parabadminton and was successful at the national level. In 2008 he took part in a European Badminton Championship for the disabled for the first time in Dortmund . At the Badminton World Cup for the Disabled in Seoul in 2009, he reached the quarter-finals. Gobi Ranganathan won gold in doubles, silver in singles and bronze in mixed at the European Badminton Championships for the disabled in Dortmund in 2012. At the Badminton World Cup for the disabled in 2013, also in Dortmund, he achieved silver in doubles.

In 2015, Ranganathan had to undergo heart surgery because of an aortic valve insufficiency . He continues to play parabadminton and took part in the 2019 World Badminton Championship for the disabled , but was unable to build on the successes of 2012 and 2013.
