God's Golden Acre

God's Golden Acre (GGA, German “God's golden Acker”) is a children's aid project in a South African children's village in Cato Ridge , on the outskirts of the metropolitan community of eThekwini , KwaZulu-Natal province .

Heather Reynolds founded the organization in 1994. Abuse, violence, AIDS or the loss of parents are the most common reasons why children of all ages come to “God's Golden Acre”. The region of the “Valley of a 1000 hills” is marked by the still noticeable effects of apartheid , very high unemployment (official rate: 50%) and suffers particularly badly from human AIDS infection.

Today this is on the one hand "Khayelihle" (German: "beautiful new home") for almost 70 children, on the other hand it has developed an "Outreach Project" through which another 4,000 to 5,000 children in the region are reached. GGA offers these children in the valleys a basic supply of food, promotes their education and has set up both a music academy and a football league. With their support and education, these projects protect against rape, crime, violence and AIDS and should help to cope with traumatic experiences from the past.

God's Golden Acre initiates and supports other projects.
