Godfrey Itama Oboabona (born August 16, 1990 in Akure ) is a Nigerian football player.

Player career

Oboabona began playing club soccer in the youth department of the local soccer club Sunshine Stars FC . From 2010 to summer 2013 he played in the professional squad. During this time he and his team reached the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League twice .

In 2013 he moved to the Turkish first division club Çaykur Rizespor . After four years with the Black Sea Club, Oboabona switched to al-Ahli in the summer .

National team

Oboabona has been playing for the Nigerian national soccer team since 2012 . With this he took part in the 2013 African Cup of Nations and was the tournament winner. He took part in the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup with the national team, but the team already failed in the group stage.
