Godfrey Thoma

Godfrey Thoma (born January 22, 1957 ) is a Nauruan politician . He was a member of the Nauruan Parliament . His home is in the Aiwo district .

Thoma, who worked as a police officer, was elected speaker of parliament after the parliamentary elections in May 2003 , but resigned from this post after just one day. Under René Harris , he was appointed Minister of Justice and Fisheries for the first time in August 2003. He was Minister of Justice under Ludwig Scotty too . In 2004, 2008 and 2010 he was re-elected to parliament. On April 25, 2013 he was re-elected Speaker of Parliament. In the election on June 8, 2013, he lost his seat.
