Goodbye Mr. Mackenzie was a British punk band. The group from Bathgate near Edinburgh was one of the most influential Scottish post-punk bands in the late 1980s.

The band was formed by vocalist Ewan Drysdale, Martin Metcalfe on guitar, Jamie Waterson on bass guitar, John Duncan (formerly The Exploited ) on guitar, Derek Kelly on drums and Shirley Manson on keyboards. In the late 1980s, the band signed a major deal with Capitol Records . After their debut album Good Deeds & Dirty Rags , which reached number 26 in the UK and was widely celebrated in the scene, Capitol Records suddenly stopped releasing their second album, Hammer & Tongs . The band then switched to Radioactive Records , a small independent label .

Wilson, Kelly, Metcalfe and Manson formed the band Angelfish in 1993 to fulfill their record deal with Radioactive Records . Shirley Manson then left the band in favor of Garbage ; Metcalfe, Kelly and Wilson continued to play under the names The Filthy Tongues and Fishhead through the 1990s .
