Google Buzz was an online service of the US company Google Inc. to support social networks on the Internet . Above all, he expanded the in-house email service Gmail . The users could exchange messages, pictures, videos, status messages and comments.

Google Buzz was announced on February 9, 2010 at a press conference in Mountain View , the company's headquarters. The main offering went online on the same day, with individual functions gradually following. After two days, 9 million messages and comments had been exchanged. On October 17, 2011, Google Buzz was closed because Google wanted to concentrate on the Google+ social network .
